Sciatica, rib pain, low back pain…sound familiar? During pregnancy, there are many biomechanical changes that are happening which can in turn be a source for pain. Chiropractic adjustments help to alleviate this pain and discomfort by allowing optimal alignment in the spine. This is why chiropractic care can be so beneficial for the mom-to-be. Here are some things you might be wondering if you are considering chiropractic care during your pregnancy.

1. Is it safe for the baby?
A: Yes! In fact, it is helpful for the baby. Proper spinal and pelvic alignment will allow the the uterus and baby optimal space and comfort.  Additionally, we have special tables in our office for pregnant moms, that allows the mom to lay face down (something you cannot do often during pregnancy!) and provides plenty of room for the belly.

2. Will it hurt?
A: No! We use gentle techniques to adjust your spine, so there is no harm to you or the baby. No only that, but the horomone relaxin that is high during pregnancy, creates ligament laxity which allows for easier adjustments.

3. Am I done with chiropractic after I give birth?
A: We always encourage our new moms to get adjusted after they deliver. Additionally, it is a great time to get your new baby’s spine checked to set them up for proper alignment right away!

The bottom line is that this is an important time for you and your baby. Our main goal is to reduce pain and optimize comfort for our pregnant patients. Whatever your concerns, you can be sure that your Chiropractor will be open to discussing them with you.
