Can your condition be helped with chiropractic care? As much as we would love to help everyone, that’s just not possible. In our office, we do a consultation, examination, and, if needed, spinal x-rays. We believe this is what separates us from many Houston Chiropractors. If you’re experiencing one of the following conditions, let us explain how we may be able to help!
Houston Chiropractors Can Help Headaches And Neck Pain
Often overlooked as a reason to see a chiropractor, headaches can very commonly be caused by a misaligned vertebra. This misalignment is referred to as a subluxation, and depending on where in the spine you have one, the types of symptoms you experience can vary greatly.
Headaches, particularly those occurring at the back of the head, can often be classified as a cervicogenic headache. This means the cause of the headache is neck-related. Since most of our patients spend so much time sitting in front of a computer, it should not come as a surprise that they experience this problem.
Neck pain is also very common following a car accident, but that’s a small portion of the type of patients we see in our office. Sitting for extended periods on the computer and spending a lot of time on your phone frequently leads to spinal problems that lead to neck pain. These problems are very often helped with chiropractic care.
The good news is, with a combination of chiropractic care and posture exercises, we see a lot of success in eliminating or significantly reducing the frequency and severity of these problems. In many cases, the symptoms are eliminated. I remember a patient telling me, "I just always thought I was going to have headaches, now I don't."
Middle And Upper Back Pain Too!
Another very common symptom is upper or middle back pain. Mid back pain is sometimes described as “pain between the shoulder blades.” These issues are very common with patients that sit in front of a computer all day, or those that have to reach in front all day — like mechanics or hair stylists.
Once this starts, no amount of massaging or stretching seems to help. With a combination of spinal adjustments (to free up the areas of the spine that are locked up) and some simple exercises to strengthen the area, patients usually see fairly rapid pain relief.
Many patients have spent several frustrating months adjusting their office chair or workstation with no relief until they get the spine moving the way it was designed.
While headaches, neck pain, upper back pain, and mid back pain are very common reasons why people visit Houston Chiropractors, people still seem to believe that they can only visit a chiropractic doctor when they have low back pain. Luckily for them, we can help with that too.
Lower Back Pain And Sciatica Are Commonly Treated In Our Houston Chiropractic Office
When surveyed, most people acknowledge that chiropractors are the “go to” doctors for neck pain and, especially, low back pain. With so many people becoming more sedentary, low back pain is often just one wrong move away from occurring.
Sciatica is when that lower back pain turns into pain that shoots into one of the glutes and likely down the leg. The further down the leg the pain goes, the worse the condition is becoming.
In some cases, the low back pain and sciatica is related to a bulging or herniated disc. Depending on the severity of the disc bulge, the condition can still be treated conservatively with chiropractic adjustments. If your condition doesn’t significantly improve after a couple of weeks, an MRI examination or referral to a specialist will be ordered.
But These Aren't The Only Reasons To Visit Houston Chiropractors...
While 99.9% of the new patients that enter our office are dealing with a painful problem, those that continue to get adjusted once the pain is gone are concerned about living a healthier life. When your spine is working as it should, the nerves are free to function at a higher level. This improved nerve function allows our bodies to work better. Patients note improved sleep, better range of motion, better attitudes, and an overall feeling of wellness. We know your first goal is to get out of pain, but we hope to continue to be a part of your life as a part of your better health team.
